Vinyl

Vinyl is a music item that can be inserted into a Music Player or Portable Music Player to play its corresponding track. It serves as the game's collectible music medium, with many different variants spread across biomes, chests, merchants, events, and boss drops.

Vinyls can be found in a wide range of progression areas, so they are not tied to a single region. Several are obtained from biome chests in forests, plains, snow, desert, swamp, and dungeon areas, while others appear inside Music Players placed in Snow Cave and Deep Snow Cave mini-biomes. Some vinyls are also sold by the Exotic Merchant, including versions sold only at night or during the day, and one seasonal variant is available from the Exotic Merchant during the Christmas event or from a Christmas Present.

Combat and boss-related sources are also common. Different vinyls can drop from enemies and bosses such as the Ascended Wizard, Cryo Queen, Ancient Vulture, Crystal Dragon, Evil's Protector, Reaper, Night Swarm, Moonlight Dancer, Mother Slime, Pest Warden, Queen Spider, Swamp Guardian, Sunlight Champion, The Cursed Crone, Spider Empress, Void Wizard, Fallen Wizard, Pirate Captain, and Raiders. Some are also found in pirate, swamp, deep forest, deep swamp, deep desert, and deep plains cave chests, making vinyls part of both exploration loot and enemy rewards.

A few practical points follow from this distribution:

• If you want to collect tracks quickly, check biome chests as you explore rather than waiting for boss drops.
• Music Players in Snow Cave variants can be harvested for their contained vinyls, which makes those mini-biomes especially valuable for collectors.
• The Exotic Merchant provides a consistent non-combat source for several vinyls, so visiting the merchant regularly can help fill gaps in a collection.
• Bosses and special enemies offer a second route to obtain specific vinyls, which is useful if a track is tied to progression you are already pursuing.

Because Vinyl is consumed or inserted as a music source rather than used in crafting or combat, its main value is collection and playback. Players interested in the soundtrack can keep one of each variant and use a Music Player or Portable Music Player to swap tracks as needed.
