Fallen Wizard

Overview

The Fallen Wizard is the last boss in the game, not counting Incursion bosses. He is found on the second and final floor of the Deep Desert Temple, which is unlocked after defeating Sage and Grit. After he is defeated, there is a 10-minute cooldown before he can spawn again in the same arena.

He is passive until attacked, and the fight always begins in a fixed sequence. He opens with an energy wave wall, then teleports into a laser attack, and follows that with an energy ball spiral. After that, he summons two fallen dragons, which start passive but quickly begin an energy barrage that can deal heavy damage if the player spends too long focusing them. He then uses energy waves from random directions; if any fallen dragons are still alive during this attack, they will home in on the player. After this point, he continues cycling through these six attacks in random combinations until defeated, with the attack speed steadily increasing as his health drops.

Because of the long attack chain and the way the fight escalates, the Fallen Wizard is a major difficulty spike compared to earlier bosses. Players should prepare their build, Trinkets, Potions, and Food Buffs before entering the fight. Mobility is especially important, and the Blink Scepter and Air Vessel or Ancient Relics are heavily recommended for dodging his attacks and repositioning quickly.

The arena can also be used for Banner Stands after v0.21.23, allowing banner buffs during the encounter. The boss also has progression rewards tied to him: the Elder can give a Void Bag after the quest "Kill Fallen Wizard" is completed, and the Fallen Wizard drops a Gateway Tablet with a 100% drop rate as of v0.22. This tablet can be used to craft the Fallen Altar at the Tungsten Workstation, which allows the player to begin participating in Incursions.

  • The Fallen Wizard’s max health was increased in v0.21.14.
  • He is stationary and inactive until first attacked.
  • Fallen dragons are part of the fight’s pressure phase and become more dangerous if left alive during the later wave attack.
  • The fight gets faster as his health decreases, so late phases are significantly more demanding than the opening sequence.
