Overview

Spider Empress is the third Incursion Boss and a large, fast-moving spider boss. It can be spawned with the boss portal that appears after completing the Spider Castle Incursion, or by using a Crown of Spiderkin while inside the Incursion.

She appears as a larger, bluer, robed, and more humanoid version of the Queen Spider, with a noticeable crown on her head that is not the Crown item. As an Incursion boss, she is designed around aggressive movement and layered area denial rather than simple single-target pressure.

In battle, Spider Empress cycles through several attacks. Her claw attack begins with her standing still while many gray lines appear across the screen. After a short delay, the lines turn red and damage anything touching them, excluding the boss herself. Her silk attack scatters many balls of silk around her that deal damage on contact; she then rushes toward her target while the silk balls follow behind her. Her venom spray launches a venom ball at the player, leaving behind a harmful area of effect that damages anything moving over it until it disappears. She also has a basic charge attack, rushing straight toward her target.

After taking a seemingly random amount of damage, she enters a berserk state marked by her head catching fire and particles appearing around her. In this state, most of her attacks become significantly harder to avoid. Her claw attack produces more gray lines that appear over time instead of all at once, usually in three bursts. Her silk balls are launched farther. Her venom attack becomes much more dangerous, as she spits three venom balls twice instead of a single shot, covering a larger portion of the arena. After some time, she leaves this berserk state and returns to her normal attack pattern.

  • Her claw attack punishes staying still in marked lanes, so movement matters as much as raw damage output.
  • Her silk balls and venom pools both make the arena progressively more dangerous, so keeping space around the boss helps reduce overlap.
  • Her charge is the most straightforward attack, but it can still catch players who focus too much on dodging the area effects.
  • During berserk, the fight becomes much less forgiving, so maintaining awareness of the floor is critical.
