Gas Meter Valve
Overview
The Gas Meter Valve is a gas-piping building that lets an exact amount of gas pass through before closing and blocking further flow. It is used when a system needs precise gas dosing rather than continuous delivery, such as filling a room, feeding a machine in measured bursts, or metering gas into storage.
A limit can be set on the valve to control how much gas is allowed through before it shuts off. The limit range is 0 kg to 500 kg, and the smallest nonzero setting is 0.001 kg (1 g). Once the amount of gas that has passed through the valve reaches the set limit, the valve closes automatically. This makes it useful anywhere a stable, repeatable gas quantity is needed without relying on manual timing.
The Gas Meter Valve also has two automation ports:
- The output port indicates whether the passed-through amount has reached the configured limit. When the limit is reached, it outputs a green signal.
- The reset port resets the valve’s internal counter. When it receives a green signal, the amount that has passed through is reset to 0.
Because the valve measures cumulative flow, it is especially useful in automated gas systems where precise thresholds matter. A common use is to let a pipeline run until a specific quantity has moved, then stop it without needing a separate shutoff timer. Since the valve can be reset by automation, it can be cycled repeatedly in larger control loops.
The building is straightforward to use, but its behavior depends on the configured limit:
- At 0 kg, it blocks immediately.
- At any positive value, it passes gas until that total amount has gone through.
- At 500 kg, it allows the maximum measured amount before shutting off.
- Very small amounts can be measured, down to 1 g.
In practice, the Gas Meter Valve is best paired with automation when exact gas budgeting is important. Its output signal can be read by other automation to trigger downstream devices once the target amount has been delivered, while the reset input allows another device to rearm the valve for the next cycle.
