Overview

Gas Intake Fitting is a rocket plumbing building used to move gas into a rocket’s storage canisters through a connected system, most notably by linking it with a Spacefarer Module Gas Output Port. It serves the same general role as a powered Rocket Port Gas Loader, but without requiring electricity, making it a simple passive way to handle gas transfer on rocket builds.

In practice, it is described as behaving like a central vacuum system: once connected properly, it lets the rocket’s gas handling network draw gas through the fitting and store it in a Gas Cargo Canister or Large Gas Cargo Canister. Because it does not consume power, it is useful in designs where you want to avoid wiring a loader or where low-maintenance operation matters more than raw convenience.

A few practical points follow from its design:

  • Gas Intake Fitting is unpowered, while Rocket Port Gas Loader consumes 240 W.
  • It can be paired with a Spacefarer Module Gas Output Port to move gas into rocket cargo storage.
  • It is suited to storing gas in either a Gas Cargo Canister or a Large Gas Cargo Canister.
  • Its appeal is simplicity: it provides a passive gas intake method instead of an active powered loader.

The fitting is especially attractive for compact or power-conscious rocket setups. If a rocket already has a gas output path available, using Gas Intake Fitting avoids adding another constant electrical draw just to move gas into storage. That makes it a clean option for rockets that are meant to be self-contained or that have limited surplus power.

Because it is part of the rocket-side gas transfer chain, it should be placed and connected with the rest of the rocket’s gas infrastructure in mind. Its value is not in speeding up transfer beyond what a powered system can do, but in eliminating the need for a powered component altogether. For players who want a straightforward storage solution, it functions much like a built-in vacuum line for gas management.
