Large Gas Cargo Canister

The Large Gas Cargo Canister is a gas cargo storage building used for transporting gaseous materials in rockets. It holds more than a typical gas cargo canister, making it useful when a single standard container would require too many trips or too much micromanagement during loading and unloading.

Its main advantage is capacity. Compared with the normal gas cargo canister, the Large Gas Cargo Canister stores a greater amount of gas, so it reduces how often a rocket must be serviced. This makes it especially handy for long-range supply runs or for rockets that need to carry large gas reserves between planetoids.

Because gas can only be moved in and out at a rate of 1 kg/s per Gas Rocket Port, loading and unloading speed is often the real bottleneck rather than storage capacity. A practical way to speed up transfers is to place multiple Gas Rocket Port buildings in a row, which increases total throughput and lets the canister fill or empty much faster.

A few notes about the building and its presentation:

• It is built from 1000 kg of Steel, but its finished mass is 2000 kg of that metal.
• Its description is inherited from the base-game cargo module text and still refers to space missions rather than the inter-planetoid travel used in Spaced Out.
• Its flavor text references the smaller Liquid Cargo Tank simply as a cargo tank.

In use, the Large Gas Cargo Canister is best treated as a high-capacity buffer rather than a fast-transfer device. If the rocket infrastructure around it only uses a single Gas Rocket Port, the extra capacity will not help much unless you can tolerate slow loading times. In practice, pairing it with several ports is the most efficient way to take advantage of its larger storage.
