Ladder Bed

The Ladder Bed is a furniture building that combines a sleeping surface with a built-in ladder, making it useful in cramped spaces where every tile matters. It is especially practical in a Spacefarer Module or other tight rooms, because it can help fit a proper bedroom layout into a small footprint while still preserving vertical movement through the base.

Its main advantage is space efficiency. Duplicants can climb up and down using the ladder on the left side of the Ladder Bed, so it can replace a separate ladder in areas where a normal bed would otherwise force extra construction. This makes it easier to build compact barracks and room layouts without sacrificing access between floors.

A Ladder Bed also has an important downside: if another Duplicant uses the ladder while someone is sleeping, that sleeping Duplicant’s sleep will be interrupted. Because of this, placing it where traffic passes through frequently can reduce its usefulness as a proper sleeping solution. It works best when the ladder is not part of a heavily traveled route, or when the room layout can keep sleepers away from frequent movement.

Practical uses include:

• Building compact barracks in narrow bases.
• Saving horizontal space in rooms that need both a bed and access to upper or lower tiles.
• Replacing a separate bed-and-ladder arrangement in situations where footprint is more important than convenience.
• Fitting functional sleeping quarters into especially small structures such as the Spacefarer Module.

When planning around it, remember that its ladder is part of the sleeping furniture itself. That is what makes it efficient, but it is also what creates the sleep interruption risk. For bases with constant movement, a normal bed may be safer; for space-limited builds, the Ladder Bed is a strong option for packing utility into a single tile arrangement.
