Fish Pond

Fish Pond is a placeable item used to breed fish and produce Fish Roe. It is unlocked by obtaining the Fish Farming Licence from Fletch for Permit Points. Unlocking that licence requires Water Scaping Level 1 and Fishing Level 3 Licence.

A fish pond functions as a small holding area for live fish. To add a fish, throw it into the pond with Q, or the corresponding throw button on controller. The fish will visibly swim inside the pond after the placement animation finishes. Fish ponds can hold up to 5 fish at once, and fish can be removed again with a Fishing Rod if you need to make room or want to pick the fish back up.

The pond generates Fish Roe over time based on the rarity of the fish inside it. Common fish produce roe more quickly and in greater quantities than rarer fish, which produce less roe over the same period. When the roe reaches 15 and there is space available, the pond will spawn another fish of the same type already living in it. This makes the fish pond useful for gradually multiplying a preferred catch without having to find more of that fish in the wild.

A crab pot attached to the side of the fish pond can also be used to feed a critter each day, which produces a random amount of Fish Roe. All critters are treated equally for roe production, regardless of type. If you want to maximize output, remember that the attached crab pot may need to be emptied along with the pond’s roe, depending on how you are using it.

• Fish caught from a fish pond do not count toward the Fish Catching completion reward.
• You may need to empty both the fish pond’s roe and the attached crab pot before removing fish or reclaiming the item.
• Since the pond only spawns more fish of the same type already inside it, it is best used to duplicate a specific fish rather than to mix species.
