Overview

The Vertical Launching Silo, often called the Launch Silo, is a building that launches Small Carrier Rockets into the Dyson Sphere. It is the final production building in the Dyson Sphere construction chain and is required to create structure nodes, making it one of the key late-game facilities in the game.

In practical use, the silo accepts Small Carrier Rockets as input and sends them to the Dyson Sphere automatically. Its output behavior also makes it useful for chained layouts: rockets can be fed into one silo from a belt through a sorter, and any excess rockets can be passed onward from one silo to another or back onto a belt through another sorter. Placing two silos very close together with the second one rotated 180 degrees allows them to be directly linked with only a sorter, which makes daisy-chaining more efficient.

  • Small Carrier Rockets can be sprayed with Proliferator to increase launch speed.
  • With Mk. 3 Proliferator, launch speed can be doubled to 10 rockets per minute.
  • Because it is the final launch stage for the Dyson Sphere, its placement and belt routing matter more than in most production buildings.
