Overview

The Plasma exciter is a component used in the production of buildings and defensive items. It first becomes relevant when setting up oil processing, where it is required for basic oil equipment such as the Oil Extractor and Oil Refinery, but not for Chemical Plants. Beyond that, it is consumed in a small number of other structures and combat-related items, so it is not a high-volume component in the way that many early-game materials are.

Its demand stays relatively low throughout the game because it is not used for matrix production or Small Carrier Rocket production. Typical uses include Wireless Power Tower, Laser Turret, Spray Coater, Logistics Distributor, Prototype, and Jamming Capsule. Since its applications are limited, maintaining a small but steady supply is usually enough for most playthroughs.

A few practical points make its production easier to manage:

  • The crafting ratio is 1:1 with Prism, so one Plasma exciter Assembling Machine can be supplied directly by one Prism-making Assembling Machine using a sorter, without belts.
  • In the early game, a single Assembling Machine feeding a storage with only a few slots unlocked is often sufficient. Players can then draw from that storage as needed for construction.
  • Later in the game, one or two Assembling Machines making Plasma exciter are usually enough to support automated production of the buildings that need it.
  • If you plan to expand into large-scale automation using Logistics distributors, even a small dedicated Plasma exciter line is worthwhile.
  • When manual production is preferred, keeping a stock of Prism can reduce the burden, especially if stone deposits are far from iron ore and copper ore deposits.

Because the item is needed in only a limited number of recipes, overbuilding its supply is usually unnecessary. A modest buffer is generally enough to cover both construction bursts and occasional combat or logistics expansion.
