Overview

The Universe Matrix is the final Matrix unlocked in the game and the end-game research item required to complete Mission Completed! and unlock repeatable technologies. It is the culmination of the four basic Matrices plus the Gravity Matrix, combined with Antimatter to form the highest-tier science item.

Its recipe is more demanding than any earlier Matrix: it requires all five previous Matrices and Antimatter, for a total of six input items. Because of that, it is also the most expensive Matrix to mass-produce, and its production cycle has the longest crafting time. In the Matrix Lab, it uses six item inputs and produces one output, so late-game science lines usually need to be reorganized around it.

Antimatter is the key bottleneck. It is obtained from Critical Photon production through Ray Receivers, which ties Universe Matrix production directly to late-game power and Dyson Sphere infrastructure. Depending on how the Ray Receivers are configured, Antimatter supply can be supported by a Solar Sail swarm rather than relying on solid sphere shells, but it still sits firmly in the end-game energy chain.

A practical way to transition into Universe Matrix production is to repurpose the Matrix Labs that were used for research into production lines, then add new Matrix Labs dedicated to research. This avoids interrupting science progress while the new production chain is being established.

  • Universe Matrix is the last Matrix to unlock.
  • It is used to finish the game and to unlock repeatable technologies.
  • It combines all five earlier Matrices with Antimatter.
  • Because it is the final science item, it becomes the universal requirement for later technology upgrades.
  • When building a production line for it, plan for both the extra input complexity and the need for a steady Antimatter supply.

A useful late-game planning tip is to finish any technologies that do not require the Universe Matrix before starting on the research path that does. Once Universe Matrix-based research begins, the other science materials are no longer needed for those technologies, so completing the remaining non-Universe Matrix research first reduces the amount of factory retooling needed later.
