Overview

Metal Wall 1 is a basic defensive wall tile used to fortify bases and block enemy movement. It functions as a solid, indestructible-by-pathing tile that units and ground projectiles interact with as cover; turrets and conveyors can be built adjacent to it but cannot be placed on the wall tile itself. Metal Wall 1 appears as an early-game structural block and serves as a cheaper, lower-health option compared with heavier wall tiers.

Players use Metal Wall 1 to create chokepoints, extend ramparts around cores and important buildings, and guide enemy pathing into kill zones covered by turrets or traps. Because it is inexpensive, Metal Wall 1 is appropriate for rapid expansion of defenses and for temporary barriers during early waves; it can be replaced later with stronger walls as resources allow.

  • Metal Wall 1 blocks ground movement and provides line-of-sight blocking for many weapons and AI pathfinding, enabling straightforward funneling of enemy units.
  • Use staggered or layered placements to increase effective durability: a double-thickness wall forces enemies to break through multiple tiles and gives defensive structures more time to eliminate attackers.
  • Combine Metal Wall 1 with conveyor chokepoints and crushers, or place it to funnel enemies toward splash turrets and impact weapons for efficient damage application.
  • Repairing walls with repair units or by building adjacent power/maintenance support reduces long-term resource loss during sustained attacks.
  • Replace Metal Wall 1 with upgraded wall tiers when facing late-game waves or heavy armor; keep Metal Wall 1 as a cost-effective buffer where complete replacement is impractical.

Metal Wall 1 is part of the tiered wall progression within the building roster and is commonly available on most maps and modes that allow player construction. It integrates with standard building rules (cannot be built on certain environmental tiles or inside forbidden zones) and interacts predictably with map overlays and region tiles used for special map mechanics.
