The second iteration.

Overview

Core: Foundation is one of the planet cores used to store items, act as the player's central base and serve as the launch requirement for campaign progression. It functions as the primary core on Serpulo and similar planets where cores grant increasing item capacity and additional active unit slots per tier. Foundation is a multi-tile block that provides storage for built items, a spawn point for the player's units and structures, and the anchoring building used when launching to new sectors in campaign maps.

Foundation must be placed inside a Core Zone to be built or upgraded. Each core tier increases the base item capacity and (on Serpulo-style cores) the maximum number of active units the player may have. In campaign maps, launching to numbered sectors requires the departing sector to have at least one core; the core itself is not visible in the block-selection UI but its cost and presence are enforced when calculating launch requirements.

Foundations interact with map rules for different planets. On Serpulo-like maps, cores follow the progressive-tier model where each larger core offers more storage and additional active unit capacity. On planets with Erekir-style cores the behavior differs: cores include armor, higher build costs relative to their capacity, do not increase max active units between tiers, and will incinerate any item placed inside that is not used for construction of blocks (for example, spare items can be destroyed). Because of these differences, Foundation placement and upgrade strategy must account for planet-specific core rules.

  • Always place cores within designated Core Zone tiles; without core zones you cannot construct or upgrade a core.
  • Upgrade cores to gain more item capacity and (on Serpulo-style planets) extra active unit slots; larger cores also increase health and may add armor on certain planets.
  • On Erekir-style planets, maintain multiple cores across your base rather than relying on a single massive core, because build cost versus capacity favors distributing cores and cores will incinerate unused items.
  • Treat the core as your base hub: protect it with walls and turrets since its destruction prevents further construction and can end a run.
  • Remember that the core’s item storage is used by building and unit construction; manage inventory to avoid losing rare resources on planets that destroy unused items.
