Overview

Renale is a hidden ground Neoplasm unit that commonly appears as a split-off unit when a Latum dies. It is found on the planet Erikel and can be produced automatically when a Latum dies (five Renale are spawned), or created directly by enemy waves and map scripts. The English fandom name and the unit's scientific inspiration come from the parasitic roundworm Dioctophyme renale; players and sources also colloquially refer to Neoplasm units like Renale as "worms" because of their movement.

Renale is classified as a NeoplasmUnitType with hidden visibility and ground-only targeting. It is not a flying unit. The unit has no mounted weapons but is marked as having attack capability in available data. Its notable built-in abilities are regeneration, a death spill that releases Neoplasm fluid on death, and a fluid-slurp mechanic that allows it to heal by absorbing Neoplasm fluid.

Key technical stats and behaviors:

  • Health: 500; Armor: 2.
  • Speed: 1.2; hit size: 9; payload capacity: 8.
  • Unit id: #56; internal English id: renale.
  • Weapon count: 0; ability count: 3.
  • Death spill: on death Renale releases 120 units of Neoplasm fluid.
  • Regeneration: the unit has a regen ability.
  • Fluid absorption: Renale can heal by slurping Neoplasm fluid; it gains 6 health per slurp and slurps at a speed value of 5.
  • Visibility and spawning: hidden in normal play (hidden=true); spawns from Latum death (primary upstream unit), and can also be spawned by waves or scripts.

Practical notes and strategy:

  • Because Renale releases a substantial amount of Neoplasm fluid when it dies, groups of Renale or chains of Latum deaths can create pools of that fluid. These pools can be hazardous or used strategically depending on map hazards and player unit interactions.
  • Individual Renale can sustain themselves by slurping Neoplasm fluid; placing them in areas with available Neoplasm can let them recover health over time thanks to their regen and slurp mechanics.
  • As a hidden ground unit with modest speed and no ranged weapons, Renale is primarily a swarm/harassment unit produced by Latum rather than a standalone heavy combatant.
  • Map designers and script authors can spawn Renale directly during waves to create sudden localized threats or to seed Neoplasm fluid on the battlefield.
  • Naming and appearance tie into a parasitic/worm theme; expect behavior consistent with expendable, self-replicating swarm units rather than individual high-value targets.
