Latum

Overview
Latum is a hidden ground unit that appears as an enemy on certain maps and scripts. It functions primarily as a durable, non-flying bruiser with large health and significant damage soak rather than as a direct heavy damage dealer; it carries no weapons but has defensive and utility abilities that affect the battlefield when it dies. The name Latum is derived from the tapeworm Diphyllobothrium latum.
Latum's core statistics reflect its role as a high-survivability enemy: it has 20000 health, 12 armor, a movement speed of 1.0, a collision size of 48, and an item carry capacity of 8. It is a hidden unit (does not appear on the minimap by default) and engages only ground targets. Latum is spawned by hostile waves and by map scripts and is not produced by standard player factories.
Latum possesses several special abilities. It has an innate regeneration ability that passively restores health. When Latum dies it produces several secondary effects: it spills 120 units of the liquid

Practical notes for dealing with Latum and using knowledge of its mechanics:
- Because Latum carries no weapons, focus fire and area damage are effective at removing it before it reaches static defenses, but its high health and armor require sustained damage or high-damage shots.
- Expect a Neoplasm puddle and multiple Renale to appear on its death; area-of-effect damage or quick cleanup is important to prevent the spawned Renale from overwhelming defenses.
- The spilled Neoplasm can be exploited by either side: Latum will heal itself by absorbing Neoplasm (slurp mechanics), so denying Neoplasm access by destroying or removing the puddle prevents it from prolonging its life. Conversely, Neoplasm can be used strategically in maps or scripts where players can manipulate liquid flow to influence Latum behavior.
- Latum is not obtainable through player production; encountering it is limited to map and wave encounters. Its hidden status means defenders might not spot it until it is close, so layered defenses and ground-targeting detection help.
- Technical identifiers useful for modding or script references: unit id #57, internal English id "latum", localization key unit.latum.name.
Latum functions as a late-stage wave/enemy unit designed to disrupt defenses on death and to create follow-up threats rather than to perform direct ranged or melee attacks itself.
