Overview
The Omura is a high-end naval combat unit armed with a long-range piercing railgun. It serves as a premium water-only sniper that excels at destroying high-value targets from extreme distances and can provide area control across aquatic maps. Introduced in Version 6.0, the Omura sits near the top of Serpulo’s unit tiers: it combines exceptional range, heavy armor, and raw per-shot damage at the cost of high price and specialized use on water tiles.
Omura’s primary weapon is a railgun that fires slowly but hits very hard. The cannon deals 1250 damage per shot, fires at 0.54 shots/sec, and applies pierce (each subsequent target takes a fraction of the damage). Its maximum targeting distance is 62 blocks, the longest range of any unit on both planets. The unit’s movement speed was standardized to 4.65 tiles/sec in later builds. Omura also has very large item capacity (history: increased and decreased across builds, currently reduced to 230 in intermediate updates) and heavy armor — 16 armor on Serpulo, tying it with

Because the Omura is confined to water, its strategic role is specialized: it dominates naval corridors and maps with significant water, often replacing multiple land-based long-range units for map coverage. Its long pierce and high damage make it capable of melting single large threats such as Foreshadows, Antumbras, and other powerful units before they close. The Omura used to spawn Flares automatically, but that ability was removed in later builds and it no longer constructs Flares.
Practical usage and strategy:
- Position Omuras to cover chokepoints and long sightlines over water so they can exploit their extreme range; a few well-placed Omuras can provide near-map coverage on many maps.
- The default AI tends to cruise Omuras toward closer targets, which can force them into unfavorable close-range engagements. Manual control or logic scripts can keep them at optimal sniping positions and allow them to outrange and pierce-penetrate enemy Foreshadows.
- Despite heavy armor and damaging shots, the Omura has a slow rate of fire and slow turret rotation; swarms of fast or numerous lower-tier units (tier 3 and below) can overwhelm it if they close the distance. Use fast micromanagement, surround tactics with Brydes and
Cyerce, or supporting anti-swarm units to protect Omuras from close assaults.
- Support Omuras with rapid-repair infrastructure in prolonged defenses: Mend Projectors plus
Poly and
Mega repair options keep friendly long-range units like
Foreshadow variants and other naval assets operational.
- In custom Attack or escort scenarios, Oct is effective at shielding Omuras from Foreshadow fire by drawing aggro with its large health pool;
Aegires provides healing support against both concentrated and area damage.
- Omuras are expensive but efficient defenders in water: they deliver superior range and pierce without some of the ongoing resource drains associated with other high-tier units.
Design and balance notes: Omura’s range was reduced from 65 to 62 blocks in a later update, and various item-capacity adjustments have been applied since its introduction. The automatic
