The Biophysics Research Desk is a long-abandoned scientist’s workspace, left in a disordered state by someone who expected to return. It serves as a source of research progression tied to the game’s research systems, and in the base game it is associated with the usual research point flow.

In the Spaced Out! DLC, this kind of research point is called Data Analysis Research and is used to unlock tier 6 and later technologies. Its acquisition works the same way as in the base game, with the addition of the Orbital Data Collection Lab as a major source of data disks, and Plastic can be converted into data disks there.
