Liquid Meter Valve

Overview

Liquid Meter Valve is a plumbing building that lets an exact amount of liquid pass through before shutting off. It is used to meter liquid flow in pipes, making it possible to deliver precise amounts to machines, reservoirs, or other parts of a colony’s plumbing system.

A Liquid Meter Valve can be given a limit value, and once the amount of liquid that has passed through it reaches that limit, the valve closes and blocks further flow. The limit can be set anywhere from 0 kg to 500 kg, with a minimum nonzero setting of 0.001 kg. Because the valve counts the amount that has passed through it, it is useful wherever controlled dosing matters more than continuous throughput.

The building has two automation ports:

  • The output port signals whether the configured amount has been reached. When the limit is reached, it outputs a green signal.
  • The reset port resets the valve’s counter. When it receives a green signal, the tracked amount is reset to 0.

This makes the Liquid Meter Valve especially useful in automated liquid distribution systems. It can be paired with logic to dispense a fixed quantity, then stop, or to repeatedly refill a circuit in measured batches. Since it shuts off only after the target amount has already passed through, it is best used where slight upstream buffering is acceptable or where the intended output is a controlled packet of liquid rather than a continuously regulated stream.

In practice, the valve behaves as a simple metering gate: set the amount, let liquid flow until the threshold is met, then use automation to observe or reset it as needed.
