Implosion Cannon

Overview

Its defining strength is that a shell’s impact creates a wide explosive blast that damages units and nearby facilities in the area. The projectile reaches its target instantly, and the explosion can push enemies back, making the turret especially effective against dense ground assaults. This makes it one of the best tools for holding back some of the more dangerous Dark Fog attacks when enemies are clustered together.
Implosion Cannon can target ground units and low-altitude air units, but it cannot attack close targets, high air targets, or space targets. Its attack envelope is roughly 12 to 58 m, so enemies that get too close can slip inside its minimum range. For that reason, it works best when placed behind other defenses rather than as a front-line weapon. It is also described as having relatively poor fire rate and turret rotation compared with its long-range explosive payoff, so it benefits from support that can handle close threats.
Practical notes:
- Pair it with other defensive turrets, especially
Gauss Turret and
Laser Turret, so closer Dark Fog units cannot rush into its minimum range unchallenged.
- It is particularly strong against tightly packed Raider groups, where one explosion can hit multiple enemies at once.
- Its range is long enough that, if positioned correctly, it can ignore enemy turrets on a Dark Fog Planetary Base and strike the base itself.
- By default, it is set to prioritize ground targets over low-altitude targets.
- Its explosive damage makes ammo upgrades especially valuable, since the higher-tier shell sets increase both damage and blast radius.
