Overview

Unipolar Magnet is one of the rarest natural resources in Dyson Sphere Program. It appears only in small deposits on planets orbiting neutron stars and black holes, making it a late-game material that usually requires an interstellar logistics network to exploit efficiently.

Its main uses are in Particle Container production and in the Plane Smelter recipe. In practice, Unipolar Magnet is especially valuable because it allows Particle Containers to be crafted from Copper Ingot alone, bypassing the usual need for Electromagnetic Turbine in the production chain. This can greatly simplify and speed up assembly, but the resource cost is steep: Particle Containers consume 10 Unipolar Magnets each, so the deposits can disappear quickly if they are used as a primary supply source.

Because the ore is so scarce, it should be handled as a premium material rather than a routine input. Compared with other rare resources, its reserves are roughly an order of magnitude lower, so relying too heavily on it can lead to early depletion even if the planet is rich by rare-resource standards.

  • Found only on planets around neutron stars and black holes.
  • Used for Particle Container and Plane Smelter production.
  • Lets Particle Containers be made from Copper ingot alone, saving Electromagnetic turbine.
  • Consumed at 10 per Particle Container, so demand can outstrip supply very quickly.
  • If a deposit is exhausted, it can still be obtained from high-level Dark Fog drops, but only in limited amounts.

For most factories, the best use of Unipolar Magnet is to reserve it for high-value production lines where the simplification outweighs the cost. Only large, well-supported logistics networks should treat it as a stable bulk material.
