Overview

The Particle Container is a manufacturing component used in a number of advanced recipes. It serves as an upgraded form of the Electromagnetic Turbine, and it is one of the earliest major uses of Graphene, which in turn usually means a supply chain involving Sulfuric Acid as well. Early in a playthrough, Particle Containers are most notable for their role in building the Interstellar Logistics Station, making them an important milestone item for expanding logistics beyond a single planet.

Because the recipe has multiple inputs and a relatively long craft time, getting production started can be awkward at first. The ingredients are varied enough that a logistics station is often the easiest way to gather them in one place. Only a small number is needed initially, but later expansion can require a much larger buildout, so it is worth leaving plenty of assembler space if Particle Containers will become a high-volume item in your factory. When Graphene is produced from Fire Ice, the recipe becomes much simpler, reducing the raw material chain to only Iron Ore and Copper Ore.

Particle Containers also feed into later-game production. They are used as an ingredient for Strange Matter via the Miniature Particle Collider, so demand can remain steady well into the endgame. In practice, Strange Matter production is often limited more by power and Deuterium than by Particle Containers themselves, so the actual consumption rate depends heavily on the stability of the broader supply network.

At the end of the game, the item becomes even more broadly useful. It is required for the production of ships used against Dark Fog space hives, and it is also used as an intermediate for high-end military and fuel products such as Attack Drone, Antimatter Fuel Rod, and Strange Annihilation Fuel Rod. This gives Particle Containers a role far beyond logistics infrastructure, tying them into both combat and late-game energy chains.

There is also an alternative recipe that uses Unipolar Magnet. This route can greatly simplify the production line, but it is generally a poor choice for small-scale use because Unipolar Magnet is one of the rarest resources in the game and is found on planets that are typically occupied by Dark Fog hives. Once those deposits are exhausted, they are gone, so this method is best reserved for large-scale endgame production after Vein Utilization has been advanced enough to support it.

  • Particle Containers are a key material for the Interstellar Logistics Station and other advanced buildings.
  • They are an early consumer of Graphene, so their production often depends on Sulfuric Acid or Fire Ice-based Graphene.
  • The recipe is supply-chain heavy, so centralized assembly and logistics support help a lot.
  • They remain relevant in the late game through Strange Matter, combat ship production, and advanced weapons and fuel.
  • The Unipolar Magnet recipe is powerful but should be used carefully because the resource is extremely scarce.
