Overview

Iron Ingot is a basic crafting material used throughout Dyson Sphere Program. It is produced by smelting Iron Ore in a Smelter, and it can also be crafted directly in IcarusReplicator. As a foundational industrial item, it is one of the first materials players need to mass-produce, and it is used in a wide variety of structures and components.

Because Iron Ingot sits at the base of so many recipes, it quickly becomes one of the most important bottlenecks in early and midgame factory growth. It is especially important for Electric Motors and Circuit Boards, both of which are key intermediate products in many production chains. Large factories will require very high volumes of Iron Ingots, so expanding Iron Ore extraction and Iron Ingot smelting is essential for keeping production lines supplied.

A Smelter produces Iron Ingot at 60 per minute, making belt throughput an important consideration when scaling up production. With Conveyor Belt Mk.I, Mk.II, and Mk.III transport speeds of 360/min, 720/min, and 1800/min respectively, multiple smelters or upgraded belts are needed to move ingots efficiently at higher volumes. Planning smelting lines early helps prevent downstream shortages once more complex components begin consuming Iron Ingots in bulk.

Iron Ingot is generally treated as a core material rather than a specialized product, which makes it central to factory expansion from the very beginning of the game. Since it is used in numerous crafting recipes and structures, a stable supply of Iron Ingots is one of the clearest indicators that a production network is ready to grow.

  • Smelted from Iron Ore in a Smelter.
  • Can also be crafted in Icarus’ Replicator.
  • Production rate: 60/min.
  • Required for important components such as Electric Motors and Circuit Boards.
  • Needs large-scale mining and smelting support once factory output increases.
