Overview

Power Void is a block in Mindustry. It is notable in the game's history for a user interface artifact that exposed the engine's use of 32‑bit signed integers for certain internal counters and displays.

When the cursor hovered over a Power Void before Version 7.0, the block's power usage shown in the tooltip appeared as -2147483647. That value was presented as the 32‑bit integer minimum in the game's UI. A related visual artifact affected the Crux's default infinite unit cap: its displayed cap appeared as 2147483647, the positive maximum for a 32‑bit signed integer. These two values made the underlying numeric limits visible to players and were collected as community trivia about the game.

  • The anomalous tooltip value for Power Void was displayed only when hovering over the block and was present in releases prior to Version 7.0.
  • The Crux unit cap likewise displayed the 32‑bit maximum value (2147483647) before Version 7.0.
  • Both cases illustrate that some game counters or UI displays were bounded by 32‑bit signed integer limits and that those bounds could surface in player-facing text.

This behavior was recorded as a historical quirk rather than a designed gameplay mechanic. The appearances of extreme integer values in tooltips served primarily as an amusing indicator of internal numeric representation and were removed or corrected in Version 7.0 and later builds. Players interested in engine-level or UI artifacts may encounter references to these values when reading changelogs or community histories of Mindustry.
