Conveyor Bridge

The Conveyor Bridge is a logistics building used to let two Conveyor Rails cross without connecting. Its bridge segment must be placed over the rail that is meant to pass underneath, with the bridge correctly rotated before it is connected to a conveyor system. In practice, it is the standard way to keep rail networks separate while still letting them share the same space, helping materials reach their intended destinations instead of being diverted onto the wrong route.

Unlike Conveyor Rails, the Conveyor Bridge has no internal storage. Materials sent into it move straight through from input to output, and nothing sits inside the building waiting to be delivered. Because of that, anything passing through a Conveyor Bridge does not exchange heat with its surroundings while it is inside the bridge. It also does not stack packets the way some other logistics paths might; solid material packets cannot be split, so the bridge simply forwards them as a whole.

The building has a few useful routing behaviors that can be exploited in conveyor designs:

• If another output rail is connected at the Conveyor Bridge’s input, solids will go through the bridge exclusively until the bridge’s output is full. This differs from a normal branch, which would split traffic evenly.
• If another input rail is connected at the Conveyor Bridge’s output, solids coming from the bridge are blocked until the other input rail is empty.

These behaviors make the Conveyor Bridge useful not only for crossing lines, but also for controlling priority and flow in rail systems. In a well-designed network, it helps keep item streams separated, prevents accidental mixing, and ensures that materials are delivered to the correct destination. Proper orientation is important when placing it, since the bridge must span the rail it is crossing rather than creating an unwanted connection.
