Decontamination Shower

Overview

A Decontamination Shower disinfects Duplicants that pass through it, making it useful for keeping germs out of living areas, food chains, and transit routes. Each use consumes 100 kg of Water and converts it into Polluted Water at a 1:1 ratio, with the output spilled directly onto the floor instead of being sent through a liquid output pipe. Unlike a Sink, it can also disinfect Duplicants wearing Oxygen Masks or Atmo Suits.

Using a Decontamination Shower takes 15 seconds by default. If the Duplicant is under a light source and has the Well Lit buff, the use time drops to 12.75 seconds. The Polluted Water produced by the building keeps the same temperature as the input Water, which makes the shower both a germ-control tool and a convenient way to generate large amounts of Polluted Water for systems that rely on it.

  • The shower removes germs even if the input Water already contains germs, so sieved but still germy Water can be reused without cross-contamination.
  • Because the output is spilled on the spot, placement matters; nearby Mesh Tiles are often used to manage the discharge path.
  • Multiple showers in high-traffic areas can convert Water into Polluted Water quickly when a steady supply of output is needed.
  • Although it disinfects Duplicants, it does not reduce absorbed radiation. It does remove Radioactive Contaminants, which are a separate type of germ.
  • Its practical overheat threshold is effectively 55°C, since it requires Lead and Lead lowers a building’s overheat temperature by 20°C.
