Wall Toilet
Overview
The Wall Toilet is a hygienic toilet building that provides Duplicants with a place to relieve themselves while reducing Stress and limiting the spread of Disease. It behaves like a flush toilet for room purposes, satisfying the Toilet requirement for the Latrine, Washroom, and Hospital, and therefore helping support the morale bonuses from those rooms.
Compared with the Lavatory, the Wall Toilet is especially useful in cramped layouts and spacefaring builds. It transmits fewer germs to Duplicants and requires no manual emptying, making it easier to maintain than older toilet solutions. It is often the better choice when space and plumbing access are limited, especially aboard spacecraft.
The Wall Toilet consumes 2.5 kg of Water through piping and produces 9.2 kg of Polluted Water on the far side of the wall. Because the output exceeds the input, it can be used as a small net water source when paired with filtration or collection infrastructure. A Duplicant with a normal bladder produces about 11.16 g/s of water or polluted water on average through bathroom use, although the gain is modest; it is nowhere near enough to sustain major power or oxygen production on its own. Using the produced water for other systems also means dealing with the highly contaminated Polluted Water, which can contain large amounts of Food Poisoning germs.
Each use generates 120,000 Food Poisoning germs in total, distributed between the Duplicant, the Wall Toilet, and the produced Polluted Water. The germ load on the Duplicant is lower than on many other toilet options, but it is still worth keeping the surrounding area clean if disease control matters.
A few practical notes make the Wall Toilet more valuable:
- If it is attached to the outer wall of a Spacefarer Module or Solo Spacefarer Nosecone, its output is dumped into space and deleted, even when the spacecraft is on the ground.
- This makes it best suited for spacecraft, where venting the output outside is convenient.
- Running excess liquid piping through the interior of a spacecraft is usually enough to support long trips, without needing a reservoir just to hold the toilet output.
- On the ground, it is generally less practical than the Lavatory unless its compact footprint or room compatibility is specifically needed.
Overall, the Wall Toilet is a compact, plumbing-based sanitation solution that trades a bit of water handling complexity for space efficiency, easier maintenance, and good room support.
