Pile Sorter

Pile Sorter is an upgraded sorter that can move items into or out of a building, just like other sorters. Its main advantage is that it can carry multiple items in a single trip, making it useful wherever throughput is limited by sorter traffic.

It is crafted from the Mk3 sorter, so it serves as the next step up from standard sorter transport once a line begins to require higher item density. Because it moves stacks rather than single items, it is especially effective for handling materials that are already bundled or otherwise accumulated in groups.

When transporting items with belts, an Automatic Piler can be used alongside it to pile up components on the belt, preparing them to be collected by the Pile Sorter. In practice, this makes it a strong option for reducing the number of trips needed between buildings and improving overall transfer efficiency on busy production lines.
