Overview

Plane Filter is a Tier IV component used primarily as an ingredient in Quantum Chip production. It is one of the higher-tier intermediate materials in Dyson Sphere Program, sitting alongside Processors as a key part of the Quantum Chip recipe.

Its practical use is very limited outside that role. Aside from being consumed in the manufacture of Plane Smelters after Mission Completed!, Plane Filter has no major standalone applications. Because of this, its production is usually scaled only to match downstream demand rather than stockpiled in large quantities.

Plane Filter production is often constrained by its inputs and crafting speed. It takes a long time to produce, and the required Casimir Crystals are themselves difficult to mass-produce, so the item is commonly treated as a bottleneck component in late-game logistics. For players planning a Quantum Chip line, the limiting factor is usually not the final assembly step alone but the upstream supply of Plane Filters and Casimir Crystals.

A few useful ratios stand out when planning production:

  • Plane Filters are consumed for Quantum Chips at a 1:4 speed ratio. In practice, this means every Assembling Machine producing Quantum Chips needs four Assembling Machines producing Plane Filters to keep up.
  • One Assembling Machine Mk.II making Casimir Crystals is enough to supply three Assembling Machines making Plane Filters.
  • Five Assembling Machines making Titanium Glass are enough to supply 12 Assembling Machines making Plane Filters.

Because Plane Filter is so tightly tied to Quantum Chip production, it is usually best to design its supply line as part of a broader late-game materials chain rather than as an isolated item. If your Quantum Chip output stalls, the first places to check are typically Casimir Crystal throughput and the number of dedicated Plane Filter assemblers feeding the chip line.
