Darkdrift Knight (Everdark Sovereign)
Overview
Darkdrift Knight (Everdark Sovereign) is a Nightreign boss encountered as a variation of Everdark Fulghor. This sovereign version begins combat already accompanied by his Night limb, entering what is effectively phase two immediately. The fight emphasises ranged holy projectile patterns and aggressive twinblade melee sequences, and the boss becomes immune to stagger from lightning once he reaches his later phase.
The encounter transitions at roughly half health when the Everdark sovereign severs his Night-arm and briefly ascends to regenerate it; this ascent signals the phase change. On returning to the ground he opens with a single vertical arrow shot into the air that spawns expanding showers of holy projectiles radiating outward from his position, forcing movement and spacing from all
In melee he wields a twinblade with two distinct attack sets. If he twirls the twinblade above him he executes a long swiping combo: five consecutive swings, a short pause to reorient, four more swings, and then a final wind-up strike. This combo leaves a large blind spot directly behind him. If he holds the blade poised above himself instead, he performs two spinning sweeps, leaps high, then slams down with a finishing hit. Both sets are fast and cover broad arcs; exploiting the rear blind spot is the primary defensive option.
At higher aggression he can gallop into the air, lock on a marked target, and paint that target’s last known position with a sparkling golden beam before firing a single arrow that detonates in a massive explosion. After firing the nuke he slowly drifts back down and resumes twinblade and projectile attacks. During the airborne regeneration window he is not susceptible to stagger from lightning.
- Maintain distance when he fires the initial vertical arrow that creates expanding showers; the projectiles move outward slowly and can be run around and avoided.
- When the golden beam appears, identify who is being tracked and create distance from that target’s position. If you are the marked target, holding position momentarily lets teammates escape; once the beam locks and the boss stops tracking, surge-sprint in a straight line to exit the blast while also potentially closing to land free hits as he drifts down.
- Use the large rear blind spot against the twirl combo: rolling to his rear during the opening swings avoids most damage and grants an opening to disengage or punish before he completes the second phase of the combo.
- Expect mobility and spacing to be decisive: combine strafing with timed rolls to dodge both the expanding holy projectiles and the landing slam after his aerial attacks.
