Fulghor, Champion of Nightglow
Overview
Fulghor, Champion of Nightglow is a Nightlord boss encountered in the
Spirit Shelter during the Darkdrift Knight Expedition, unlocked after defeating Gladius, Beast of Night. Once a gallant and pious centaur who served radiant thunder-cloaked gods, Fulghor was betrayed when his left arm was severed. He later embraced the Night while retaining his zeal, channeling a sacred aspect of Night's power until he became a Nightlord and the champion of Nightglow. He appears as a masked, one-armed centaur wielding a massive spear; in later phases he regrows an arm formed from Amorphous Night and can assume an Everdark Sovereign form.
Fulghor is a fast, heavy-hitting opponent with high mobility and a varied moveset that mixes long-reaching spear thrusts, sweeping storm attacks, leaps that create shockwaves, and multi-hit combos. Standard combat interactions:
- HP: 14,273 (solo), 42,820 (trio). Everdark Sovereign modifier: +25% HP.
- Defense: 100. Stance: 155; vulnerable to a Critical Attack after stance is broken. Cannot be parried.
- Damage types: deals Standard and Holy damage. He is resistant to Holy and fully immune to Madness buildup. He is neutral to standard physical types and most elemental types, but has a clear vulnerability to Lightning damage.
- Status vulnerabilities: Poison, Rot, Blood Loss, Frostbite, and Sleep all proc normally; Madness is fully resisted.
Key moves and phase behavior draw from his centaur form and Night corruption. Representative attacks include a Giant Leap that slams the ground creating a large shockwave (jumpable if distant), Spear Drag and Spear Thrust with long range (cannot be parried), Foot Stomp shockwaves from his forelegs, and Storm Sweep/Storm Combo that channel tempest winds and fire projectiles. In Phase 2 he sprouts an amorphous Night left arm, gains aerial lunges (Flying Lunge), and can perform tail-like sweeps or other extended reach attacks; in Everdark Sovereign form he later restores a physical left arm, gains a bow and twinblade, and his hair shifts from red to gold.
Drops and rewards: first-time victory awards the Night of the Champion relic; subsequent drops include random relics, Murk, and Sovereign Sigils (Everdark Sovereign) when applicable.
Practical strategy and interaction notes:
- Prioritize Lightning damage: Lightning both deals bonus damage and interacts with Fulghor’s power-up move. Hitting him with Lightning while he charges the holy spear into the ground will trigger a scripted lightning strike that staggers him and prevents the golden spears spell. Typically 1–2 Lightning hits during the windup are sufficient to trigger this effect.
- Stay mobile and close when safe: many of his storm attacks fire wind projectiles that are avoided more reliably by moving toward him and rolling into melee range rather than away.
- Learn timing for his leap shockwave and staggers: the Giant Leap and large slam attacks can be avoided by jumping from range or rolling at the correct moment; breaking his stance opens a critical attack window.
- Phase awareness: expect increased reach and aerial moves after the Amorphous Night arm appears in Phase 2, and a potency shift if the Everdark Sovereign variant appears.
- Miscellaneous: Fulghor appears blind and must be defeated as part of
Ironeye’s remembrance quest. A noted bug (patch 1.01.2) prevented his defeat from advancing the
Revenant remembrance choice despite being listed.
