Park Sign

Overview

The Park Sign is a building used to create park rooms, which provide a morale bonus when Duplicants pass through them. Once a room is recognized as a park, simply walking through it will improve Duplicant Morale, making it a useful early- and mid-game amenity for base layouts that already route traffic through central corridors.

A valid park requires at least one Park Sign, at least two wild plants, no industrial machinery, and a room size of 12 to 64 tiles. Because it depends on wild plants rather than decorative furniture alone, parks are often easiest to establish in natural spaces or in carefully preserved sections of the base where plants can remain untouched.

The Park Sign itself is notable because it can be built out of any resource, similar to a Tempshift Plate. This makes it useful for more than just room creation: by constructing it from a substance such as ice and then letting environmental heat melt it, it can be used to transfer small amounts of liquid to a chosen location. That makes the building a niche tool for controlled liquid movement in addition to its room bonus role.

In practice, Park Signs are most valuable when placed so that duplicants naturally pass through the park during their normal movement. Since the morale gain comes from movement through the area, a park works best as part of a frequently traveled route rather than as a dead-end room. Keep in mind that the room must remain free of industrial machinery and must continue to satisfy the wild-plant requirement if you want the park classification to persist.
