Overview

Ivy the Poisonous Mass is an optional boss found in Azeos' Wilderness. She appears in a large slime-covered area roughly 600 tiles from The Core and is one of the late-game bosses tied to the wilderness biome. An Ivy the Poisonous Mass Scanner can reveal her location on the map, and her presence is also signaled by a loud thumping sound and screen shake when she is nearby.

Ivy fights by leaping rapidly toward the closest player, dealing damage on landing and leaving behind Ground Poison Slime. She also destroys any non-indestructible objects in her path, including walls, and any pits or liquids in the way are filled in with Grass Block ground. At full health, she only targets players within a 6-tile radius, but once she is damaged that detection range expands to 20 tiles, making her much more willing to engage. Every 10–20 seconds she briefly pauses and calls down 12–14 poison mortars from the sky, similar to The Hive Mother. These mortars deal moderate impact damage and each has a 25% chance to summon a Purple Slime that does not drop loot.

If players move out of her range during the fight, or if Ivy travels more than 25 tiles from her rune, she returns to the rune and regenerates health at 10% of her maximum every 5 seconds. This makes controlling the fight important, since disengaging gives her time to recover. Once she reaches 30% health, she becomes enraged and moves much faster, which is the most dangerous part of the encounter.

A few practical details are worth keeping in mind:

  • The poison mortars will not spawn a Poison Slime if at least 15 slimes are already within an 8-tile radius of the impact point.
  • The spawned Poison Slimes are unaffected.
  • After Ivy is defeated, she can be summoned again by placing a Giant Slime Summoning Idol on her rune, which is located below her original spawn point.

Because Ivy breaks through terrain and reshapes the battlefield as she moves, fighting her in an open area with room to dodge her leaps and mortar barrages is especially important.
