Jungle Biome

Overview
The Jungle Biome is a hot, oxygenless late-game biome variant that centers around a few distinct room layouts rather than a single fixed shape. All variants share the same overall feature set, with chambers made up of a central room, a secondary short and wide room, a blob room, and a geode. These areas can contain Chlorine Gas, Coal, Phosphorite, Iron Ore, Bleach Stone, Igneous Rock, Sand, and Sandstone, depending on the room type.
This biome is notable for its temperature band and for the gases it can contain. The base, inactive, steamy, and gassy variants sit in a human-hot range of 39.85 to 49.85 °C, while the frozen variant is cold at -46.15 to -16.15 °C. It has no breathable air source, so any Duplicant work inside it requires oxygen or another breathable gas to be supplied from elsewhere. It can also contain gases that naturally separate in vertical space, which makes narrow tunnels especially poor for airflow because gas movement is easily blocked.

The biome contains no plants, critters, or buried objects in the listed variants, which means it is mainly a resource and ventilation challenge rather than a self-sustaining ecosystem. Its room contents make it a source of useful early- to mid-game materials, especially Phosphorite and Coal, while the vents and ruins give it additional exploration value.
Because the Jungle Biome lacks breathable gas and can mix light and heavy gases in awkward ways, it is best approached with controlled access rather than open excavation. A small sealed tunnel can trap gas layers and make pathing difficult, so it is often safer to dig in a way that preserves airflow routes or to immediately commit to a pumped atmosphere. The presence of cool steam and other vents also makes temperature management important, since opening the biome carelessly can spread heat or expose your colony to unwanted gases.
For food and ranching, the biome’s value is less about native life and more about what it can support once opened up. Phosphorite is especially useful for ranching Dreckos, and when paired with Balm Lily, Drecko ranches can be run without consuming normal farm inputs. The biome’s resource mix also supports higher-tier cooking paths when its materials are brought into a stable production chain.
