Overview

Sunflower Seeds are a good-tier food resource obtained from mature sunflower crops in Timberborn. They are produced when beavers harvest fully grown sunflower plants; each harvested sunflower yields two sunflower seeds. Harvesting is performed by beavers working in a Farmhouse, and sunflower seeds can be stored in a Farmhouse inventory.

Sunflowers take five days to grow to maturity. Harvesting a sunflower destroys the plant. Harvesting will occur even if the crop is not selected for replanting, so seeds are generated as part of normal farmhouse harvesting behavior. Builders can also remove sunflower plants manually, but removing plants this way does not yield any sunflower seeds.

Sunflower cultivation in Timberborn does not require pre-existing seeds to begin planting. Once a Farmhouse is built, staffed with farmers, and a sunflower field is planned within the Farmhouse’s work radius, beavers will plant sunflower seedlings during work hours without consuming seed items. Sunflower fields must be located on green land adjacent to water or within the coverage of irrigation infrastructure. Proper water management is required: if a sunflower field suffers drought or flooding, sunflower seedlings will stop growing and can die if conditions remain poor.

  • Each fully grown sunflower produces 2 sunflower seeds when harvested by beavers assigned to a Farmhouse.
  • Sunflowers mature in 5 days and are destroyed by harvesting; manual demolition yields no seeds.
  • Sunflower planting does not consume sunflower seed items; fields are sown automatically by farmers once a Farmhouse and field plan are in place.
  • Ensure fields are placed on irrigated green land or within range of an irrigation tower and protected by waterworks to prevent drought or inundation that halts growth.
  • Store harvested sunflower seeds in a Farmhouse inventory for use as a stockpiled food resource or for trade.
