Overview

Carrot is a crop in Timberborn that beavers plant and harvest to provide food. Carrots do not require seeds; once a Farmhouse hires farmers and a carrot field is planned within the Farmhouse's working radius, farmers will plant carrot crops during their work hours. Carrot fields must be laid out on fertile ground adjacent to water or within the green area around an Irrigation Tower so they receive adequate moisture.

Carrot growth depends on stable water conditions maintained by the settlement's water infrastructure. Fields require proper water management—constructed Waterworks and appropriate irrigation—so that plots are neither dried out nor flooded. If a carrot field experiences drought or becomes submerged, carrot seedlings stop growing; prolonged adverse water conditions cause the seedlings to wither and die.

  • Do not build carrot fields outside the Farmhouse working radius; farmers only plant and tend crops within that radius.
  • No seeds are needed to begin carrot cultivation; planting is automatic once a field is defined and farmers are assigned.
  • Place carrot fields on green land near natural water sources or inside the coverage area of an Irrigation Tower to ensure constant moisture.
  • Build and maintain Waterworks and irrigation infrastructure to prevent both drought and flooding of crop tiles.
  • Monitor water distribution during seasonal or network changes, because seedlings exposed to dry or flooded tiles cease growth and can die if conditions persist.

Carrot farming integrates with the colony’s food supply and requires attention to worker assignment and water management. Ensuring farmers are employed at a Farmhouse and that irrigation is reliable keeps carrot fields productive and prevents crop loss.
