Oil Press

The Oil Press is a production building that converts Canola seeds into Canola oil. The output Canola Oil is an input for multiple mid- and late-game recipes and factories. The building accepts and transmits power through every side block except the doorway, and it also transmits power underneath. The Oil Press was introduced in Update 4; in Version 1 its construction cost was 20 Logs, 20 Planks, and 20 Gears, and the cost was later changed to 40 Logs and 10 Metal part.

The primary function of the Oil Press is to press Canola Seeds into Canola Oil at a one-to-one rate: each seed yields one unit of oil. Canola Oil is consumed by Fermenters to make Fermented soybean, by Food Factories to make Eggplant ration and Algae ration, and by Grease Factories to make Grease. Because of its role in several high-throughput recipes, Canola Oil becomes a high-demand resource in larger settlements and during late-game production expansion.

• Build multiple Oil Presses for large-scale oil production; late-game food and Bot boost consumption makes several presses necessary. A half dozen presses is a common starting point for scaling output.
• Place Oil Presses near large fields of canola crops to minimize transport times and keep production steady.
• Keep a large warehouse nearby for storing Canola Seeds to smooth supply to the presses and absorb harvest surges.
• Provide a large tank set to supply Canola Oil to nearby factories and production buildings that require oil.
• Because the conversion rate is 1 seed → 1 oil, it makes no difference whether district crossings transport seeds or oil in terms of quantity — choose whichever logistics setup suits your settlement layout.
• Use the approximate planting ratios when planning crop allocation for related production chains: roughly 1 Canola crop supports production equivalent to 8 Soybean crops; 3 Canola crops equate to 4 Eggplant crops; and about 9 Canola crops are required to match the output of a single Hydroponic Garden producing Algae, when those crops are consumed via their respective recipes.

When integrating Oil Presses into a power grid, account for its ability to accept and pass power through side blocks (excluding the doorway) and from below. This positioning flexibility allows Oil Presses to be embedded into compact factory clusters while keeping them connected to power and adjacent conveyor or pipe networks. Keep storage and tank capacity scaled to the number of presses to avoid production stalls and to ensure downstream factories have continuous oil supply.
