Overview

Logs are the basic raw construction and fuel resource produced by chopping trees. They appear naturally as standing trees that beavers can fell at Chop stations; felling converts standing timber into portable Logs which are carried to storage or used directly by buildings. Logs are central to early- and mid-game economies: they are required for almost every construction recipe and serve as a common fuel source until more advanced energy options become available.

Logs are produced when a Beavers performs the Chop job at a Chop building (or when trees are removed by other game mechanics that grant Wood). Once felled, Logs become a carried good that can be stacked in stockpiles or delivered to consumers by beaver haulers. Many production chains begin with Logs—most lumber-derived goods, construction tasks, and some crafting buildings take Logs as their input—so maintaining a steady supply is critical to colony expansion.

  • Logs are consumed directly by construction projects and by primitive fuel-consuming buildings; plan Wood supply to match building and heating needs to avoid construction bottlenecks.
  • Efficient tree harvesting requires proper placement of Chop buildings and nearby stockpiles so beavers spend less time walking and more time felling; place storage adjacent to Work sites when possible.
  • Because Logs are bulky and frequently moved, improving beaver transport throughput (more haulers or reduced travel distances) smooths supply lines; QoL mods that enhance carrying or UI visibility can help optimize routes in large colonies.
  • Manage reforestation: plant saplings near your harvest zones to create renewable Wood loops and prevent long travel to distant forests as local stands are depleted.
  • When using Mods that add automation or QoL features, Logs remain the foundational resource for many mod-added chains; enable such Mods safely per installation guidance (install before starting a new save if they add new resources or buildings).

Maintain balanced logging, storage, and replanting to keep Logs flowing; they unlock nearly every other industry in the game and are the backbone of early development.
