Overview

Bread is a processed food good in Timberborn used to feed beavers. It is produced by converting raw agricultural output into a finished food item through multiple production stages. Bread is not a raw crop and therefore has additional production requirements compared to unprocessed foods.

Production of bread is a multi-step process that requires specific buildings, roles, inputs and transport. Farmers grow and harvest wheat as the initial input. Wheat must be transported to a gristmill where a miller grinds it into flour. Flour then must be transported, together with logs for fuel, to a bakery where a baker consumes the logs as fuel to bake the flour into bread. Both the gristmill and the bakery require an active power supply to operate. The fandom documentation notes that production buildings need a functioning power network and mentions a surplus power requirement figure (60) in relation to producing buildings.

  • Steps to produce bread: have farmers grow and harvest wheat; transport wheat to a gristmill; supply power to the gristmill; have a miller grind wheat into flour; transport flour and logs to a bakery; supply power to the bakery and have a baker burn logs to turn flour into bread.
  • Roles involved: farmer (grows and harvests wheat), miller (operates the gristmill to make flour), baker (operates the bakery to convert flour + logs into bread).
  • Required inputs: wheat (crop), flour (intermediate product produced at gristmill), logs (burned as fuel in the bakery).
  • Infrastructure needs: functioning gristmill and bakery, a transport system to move wheat, flour and logs between buildings, and a stable power supply for production buildings.
  • Production constraints: bread is a processed food and therefore has extra requirements beyond raw crop consumption; both grinding and baking stages must be set up and staffed for bread to be produced.

Managing supply chains and power is critical for steady bread production. Ensure farmers are assigned and fields are harvesting enough wheat, that haulers can move wheat to the gristmill and flour to the bakery, and that logs are available for the bakery’s fuel consumption. Provide a reliable power network to keep the gristmill and bakery running. If any stage lacks workers, inputs, transport capacity, or power, bread production will halt.
