Guest House

The Guest House is a placeable building deed in Dinkum that becomes available after the player upgrades their Tent to a House Move Deed. In multiplayer, the host must complete that upgrade before the deed can be obtained. To get one, talk to Fletch about the town; she will give the deed so you can choose a build site. Construction does not begin until all required materials have been placed in the deposit box at the site, and once construction starts it completes overnight.

Guest Houses work much like the player’s own house. They can be decorated with furniture, used for storage, and even fitted with crafting machines. They also count toward town development, and the required materials and Town Debt must be paid through the donation box in the Base Tent Deed/Town Hall before another deed can be applied for.

A Guest House can be moved by speaking to Fletch again, and its appearance can be changed with a House Customisation Kit purchased from John’s Goods. Using the kit on the guest house door opens the option to customise the exterior, and the kit is consumed when used this way. The same item can also be used to upgrade the interior to 8x8; in that case it does not consume the kit, but it does require a one-off fee and a materials box appears on the house until the upgrade is completed overnight.

Guest Houses can be rented out. Placing a Rental Sign from John’s Goods at the door turns the house into a rental property, and interacting with the sign lets you check the current rent. The rent is calculated automatically from the house’s interior decoration, and there is no furniture requirement before renting it out. Once the sign is placed, one of the four new NPCs will move in the next day, and the rent is delivered to the small counter by the door every Wednesday morning. A Guest House can be taken on and off the market whenever you want.
