Overview

Impermeable Floor is a floor tile building that blocks water from passing upward through the ground and through platform structures. It is placed atop any solid surface and is required for Platform, Metal Platforms and Overhangs when those structures must hold or suppress water beneath them. Because most non-levee buildings do not block water from below, Impermeable Floor tiles are necessary to prevent buildings mounted on Platforms and similar supporting structures from flooding from underneath.

Impermeable Floor tiles can be built beneath other buildings and allow applicable buildings to be constructed above them. This distinguishes Impermeable Floors from Contamination Barriers and Irrigation Barriers, which cannot be placed under other buildings in the same way. Impermeable Floor functions as a thinner, floor-based alternative to Levees; it provides localized waterproofing without the bulk and footprint of levee walls. Impermeable Floor tiles also permit vertical connections such as Vertical Power Shafts and Vertical Tubeways to pass through them, enabling stacked infrastructure and multi-level routing of utilities while maintaining a waterproof seal.

  • Impermeable Floor must be placed on a solid surface; it cannot float or be placed on water directly.
  • Use Impermeable Floor under Platforms, Metal Platforms, and Overhangs when you need to keep water out from below these elevated structures.
  • Impermeable Floor tiles can be constructed under other buildings, allowing you to waterproof a structure without removing or relocating it.
  • Impermeable Floor is more space-efficient than building levees for small or localized waterproofing needs.
  • Vertical Power Shafts and Vertical Tubeways can run through Impermeable Floor tiles, which helps maintain vertical infrastructure continuity while preventing seepage.
  • Do not confuse Impermeable Floor with Contamination Barrier or Irrigation Barrier; those other barrier types have different placement restrictions and purposes.

Impermeable Floor is primarily a structural and water-control tool for compact, vertical, or modular builds where levees are impractical or where maintaining vertical utility connections is important. Plan placement where water pressure and accumulation are expected beneath platformed constructions to ensure interiors and equipment remain dry.
