Overview

Roof 2x3 is a roof structure used in Timberborn that occupies a compact footprint and provides cover over a small rectangular area. Its area of effect covers 20 tiles arranged in a 4x5 rectangle, with the center six tiles occupied by the roof structure itself. Of the 20 tiles in the area of effect, 14 tiles are affected by the roof that are not already occupied by the roof structure.

Construction of a Roof 2x3 requires components that are commonly used to create small elevated passages and stairwells. The required building elements are Wooden Stairs, Platform (single, double, and triple), and Paths to act as railings on platforms. These components are assembled in sequence to create a compact multi-level stairwell and roofed area.

A practical step-by-step method used for creating a compact 2x3 stairwell and associated roofed structure is as follows. Build a wooden stair facing left. At the high end of that stair (to the left) build a Platform, then build another Platform above that first Platform. Place a Path on top of each new Platform to provide railings and prevent beavers from falling. Build a Platform to the right of the last Platform; this section does not require railing because a Wooden Stairs will be placed there. Build a Wooden Stairs facing right on top of that last Platform. This sequence completes the first level of a Stairwell 2x3.

To extend the stairwell upward, build a Double Platform at the high end (to the right) of the last Wooden Stairs. Build another Double Platform below that Double Platform, and place Paths on top of both new Double Platforms. Build a Double Platform to the left of that Platform and place a Wooden Stairs facing left on top of it. Build a Double Platform left of that Wooden Stairs, then a Double Platform above it, and place Paths on both of those Double Platforms. Finally, build a Double Platform to the right of the last Double Platform and place a Wooden Stairs facing right on it. Following these steps results in a compact stairwell rising four levels above ground level; the same pattern can be repeated to build higher structures.

  • Area of effect: 20 tiles arranged as a 4x5 rectangle; center six tiles occupied by the roof structure; 14 tiles affected outside the occupied center.
  • Required components: Wooden Stairs; Platform, Double Platform, Triple Platform; Path for railings.
  • Typical assembly: alternating stairs and platforms with paths on platform tops to form a compact stairwell that supports roofing placement and vertical access.
  • Practical note: place Paths on platform tops to prevent beavers from falling; some platform segments used for stair placement do not require railing.
