Wood Workshop

Overview
The Wood Workshop is a basic production building that converts raw wooden planks into treated planks for use in advanced crafting and construction. It is unlocked at 800 tech points and requires 20 logs, 40 planks, and 40 iron (or the equivalent resources cited by the game) to construct. The workshop employs one beaver and consumes 250 water per production cycle. Each treated plank takes 3 hours of in-game time to produce.

Practical notes for placement and operation:
- The Wood Workshop requires a steady water supply: it consumes 250 water per cycle, so position it near water sources, reservoirs, or well-connected water infrastructure to avoid production stalls, especially before and during droughts.
- It employs only one beaver, so a single nearby job post and a short path to housing is sufficient; keeping labor availability nearby reduces idle time.
- Build Sawmills and Lumberjacks upstream in the production chain to keep a steady flow of logs and planks. Because the workshop also feeds into gear production and mines, align its output with those consumers to prevent stockpiles or shortages.
- Be cautious approaching drought seasons: during droughts natural water production ceases and water becomes scarce. Prioritize filling water tanks and reservoirs so Wood Workshops can continue producing treated planks through drought periods.
- Unlocking the Wood Workshop is an early-to-mid tech goal (800 tech points) that bridges basic wood processing and industrial crafting; integrating it into your manufacturing hubs accelerates access to gears and mine-dependent resources.
