Overview

Graviton Lens is a late-game crafting component used in several high-value production chains. It is consumed directly by the Gravity Matrix and by Space Warpers, and it is also used to boost Ray Receiver output. When installed in a Ray Receiver, a lens doubles power output and extends the receiver’s line of sight to the Dyson Sphere by a limited distance; this extension only works on planets with an atmosphere.

Because of those applications, Graviton Lens sits at an important junction between research, logistics, and Dyson Sphere power generation. Its role in Space Warper production is especially notable: Space Warpers can be made directly from Graviton Lenses, or indirectly through the Gravity Matrix route, so lens availability can affect how early interstellar travel becomes practical. In the early game, direct lens production may be the simpler option if Quantum Chip manufacturing is still cumbersome.

The item’s cost is heavily driven by its Strange Matter requirement, so its overall resource demand is often larger than it first appears. Much of the raw coal burden comes from the chain leading into Strange Matter and Diamond rather than from the lens itself. In practice, this can be eased in two ways:

  • Graphene demand can be reduced by sourcing it from Fire Ice instead of relying on the full coal-based route.
  • The Diamond portion can be lowered by using Kimberlite Ore as the feedstock, which helps cut the need for coal-smelted Diamonds.
  • If needed, the Oil Refinery alternative graphite process can also help relieve pressure on the coal chain.

For production planning, the lens is best treated as a strategic component rather than a bulk commodity. Its usefulness spans three major systems, so shortages can slow both Dyson Sphere power output and late-game mobility. When scaling up, it is worth checking whether the bottleneck is Strange Matter, Graphene, or Diamond production, since those upstream materials usually determine how quickly Graviton Lens can be expanded.
