Overview

Sulfuric acid is a basic chemical ingredient used in the production of Titanium Alloy and Graphene. It is also a component of explosive units, making it one of the core fluids in the midgame material chain. In practice, it sits at an important junction between raw resource handling and advanced manufacturing: the same liquid feeds both high-strength alloy production and the graphene line that supports later energy and logistics systems.

Sulfuric acid can be synthesized in a Chemical Plant, or it can be extracted directly from a sulfuric acid ocean with a Pump. As with other fluids, it can be stored in a Storage Tank. Because it is relatively expensive to manufacture, finding a planet with a sulfuric acid ocean is often the best way to secure a large and stable supply. On such a planet, direct pumping makes the resource effectively unlimited, which is especially valuable for large industrial builds.

Its demand rises sharply once production of the Dyson Swarm begins, because Graphene is needed for Solar Sails and sulfuric acid is a key input for graphene production. Later, when construction of the Dyson Shell starts, graphene demand increases even further. Even if Fire Ice is found and used as an alternate graphene source, sulfuric acid remains necessary for Titanium alloy production, including the intermediate materials required for Small Carrier Rockets.

A sulfuric acid production line should be sized with its downstream consumers in mind:

  • One Chemical Facility making sulfuric acid can generally support one Arc Smelter producing Titanium alloy.
  • The same sulfuric acid output can also support two Chemical Plants making Graphene, due to the longer Titanium alloy recipe time compared with graphene processing.
  • Because sulfuric acid is expensive to synthesize, direct extraction from a sulfuric acid ocean is often the most efficient long-term solution.
  • Minor amounts can also be harvested by hand from plants on Sakura Ocean or Pandora Swamp planets, or from large trees in Savannah biomes.

When available, a sulfuric acid ocean is especially attractive as an industrial base location, since those planets also tend to have abundant titanium resources. That makes them well suited for establishing a Titanium alloy supply hub and, by extension, supporting the broader logistics and Dyson-related production chains.
