Assembling Machine Mk.II

Assembling Machine Mk.II is the second-tier Assembler. It is used to automate crafting for most regular recipes, producing buildings and intermediate products for later production chains. Like other Assemblers, it occupies a 4×4 footprint and is 3 tiles high, with sorter connection points at the middle of all four sides.

Compared with the other assembler tiers, Mk.II sits between Mk.I and Mk.III in both speed and power demand. Its crafting speed is the standard 1× rate, making it a straightforward upgrade when the slower Mk.I is no longer sufficient but the highest-tier machine is not yet needed. As with the other assembler variants, higher tiers increase speed linearly while power consumption rises sharply.

Mk.II is typically obtained as an upgrade path rather than as an early-game staple. The assembler line generally requires the previous tier as an input, along with higher-tier circuit components and an additional advanced material. Because of that, Mk.II usually appears once production has reached the point where basic iron-based automation is no longer enough and more efficient factory layouts are worth the extra cost.

Practical notes:

• Use Mk.II for most mid-game crafting lines when Mk.I throughput becomes a bottleneck.
• Because assemblers are used for many standard recipes, Mk.II is often the default machine for compact production setups before transitioning to Mk.III.
• Its four-sided sorter access makes it easy to feed ingredients in and extract outputs without rearranging the machine footprint.
• Since power demand scales up quickly with tier, replacing large numbers of Mk.I machines with Mk.II can noticeably increase electrical load even when the layout remains unchanged.
